Andrew Lawrence-King has become a member of the Estonian Composers Union. December 2022 saw the first performance of a scene from his latest opera, written as Composer in Residence at the Arvo Pärt Centre, Estonia The Play of Music & Time (read more...)

Andrew's Lament for Mariupol was performed in August at the Ukrainian National House of Music in Kyiv, and again in a live radio broadcast from the Tallinn Early Music Festival in November. A further performance took place in Finland in December, with the Ostrabothnian Chamber Orchestra. It will be performed in the Ukrainian National Philharmonic hall in Kyiv on February 23rd, to mark the eve of the anniversary of the Russian invasion.

Incidental music from the Andrew's remake of Monteverdi's lost masterpiece Arianna a la recherche: the fourth opera in the Monteverdi trilogy was performed in Finland in December. The complete opera will be performed in Tallin and Pänu in March, by the Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir and ensemble Floridante.

Andrew's newly established association Early Music Estonia works in harmony with ensembles and institutions to support Early Music. Projects so far include Caccini's Le Nuove Musiche with the Estonian Academy of Music & Theatre, also in collaboration with the Kyiv Early Music Ensemble, baroque cantatas for the Tallinn Early Music festival, the recovery of baroque instruments previously on loan to Opera Omnia, Moscow and the refurbishing of a 17th-century Arpanetta now on loan to an Estonian musician.

Andrew joins the latest initiative of the Tallinn Baroque Orchestra, to create a permanent baroque orchestra for Estonia. The first concert is on March 8th La Musica.
